Johan has been sailing for more than 25 years. Originally from South Africa, he sailed the Cape Town to Rio Yacht Race on his 54ft Bruce Roberts Ketch in Jan 2000, sailed up the Brazilian coast to the Caribbean, where he worked as a Skipper on a range of different Catamarans, sailing extensively in the BVI's, St. Martin and the Grenadines.

Carien has had many years' sailing experience on a variety of boats from a young age. She crewed on a 54ft monohull Ketch from Trinidad to San Diego via the Panama Canal, Costa Rica and Mexico. She also worked for several years as a stewardess on a privately owned luxury mega-Charter Yacht. This 150ft Yacht chartered both in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, doing numerous Atlantic crossings between seasons, extensively covering the Med and Caribbean popular Ports and Islands.
